2017-2018 President's Message
From John Mercer

FLAGBAR

Let me start by thanking President Mike Asea and Vice President Randy Oppenheimer for the hard work they put in planning the 2017 Reunion in Norfolk Virginia.

I, unfortunately was unable to attend as we had a scheduling conflict with a long vacation we had scheduled earlier for Europe. In any event,I hear Norfolk was a great Reunion and well organized. As somebody who has planned a few of my own, I can tell you these events are difficult to plan and require much effort and dedication in order to make it a successful get together. So again, on behalf of the Association and Membership, to Mike and Randy, thank you for stepping up and putting on an outstanding 2017 Reunion.

As you may or may not know, at the Norfolk Reunion, I was elected again as your Association President for 2017-2018. Along with myself, my Executive Board will consist of Vice President, Janet Viet and Secretary/Treasurer, Al Jowdy. I want to say thank you, yet again, for your renewed support and confidence in me, as well as tell you it's always been a humbling experience to know the Association has put its trust in me as their President.

So, having said all that, I want to tell you we're already fast at work in planning next year's Reunion. I have decided we will be on the West Coast next year. We have done several in San Diego for a variety of reasons, but I'm looking at other options to keep things fresh. I have already sent out several RFP's to vendors and locations for information to consider. We will always pick a spot that provides the best value, opportunity and experience for our Association. I have tentatively selected June 17-21, 2018, which is a Sunday, through Thursday, with checkout being Friday morning.

As with the other Reunions I've planned, I intend to negotiate the best prices and accommodations for our group and give you a one price, all-inclusive cost, for the Reunion Events. From my experience, this provides a more efficient means of negotiating, planning and paying for a Reunion.

I will have more to follow in the near future, but wanted to say thank you for your support and let you know your E-Board is already on the case, Respectfully, John A. Mercer, President (2017-2018)
