I thought I better get at answering your letter. I sure was glad to hear from you. I haven't heard much about the SLC since I left it.

I was born on Aug. 2nd, 1925. I entered the Navy on Nov. 17, 1943 and went to Boot Camp in Great Lakes, IL. I went aboard the SLC in Aug. of 1944 at San Francisco, CA. and left the ship in Feb. of 1946.

I was in the Communications Division with the rate of SM3c. I served under Captains Edward A. Mitchell and John Connor. The SLC was the only ship I served on during my service.

I married my wife Jessie on Dec. 9th, 1945. We have 1 daughter and 2 sons, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

I came out of the service and worked for my brother on the farm. In the fall I went to work on Nickle Plate RR as a helper and worked there for 21 years and also went to farming for myself, which I retired from in 1979.
