USS SLC...Enlisted Navy...John Baeumel
John Baeumel died peacefully on July 5th, 2004. He was 90 years old and
had a great life. Without a doubt one of the highlights was his time in the
Navy and his USS SLC experiences and the many friends he made on ship. He will
be missed.

My dad, John Baeumel served on board the USS Salt Lake City from 1934-1936.
He is 86 years old and resides in Wapakoneta, Ohio.
He is living in an assited living facility and has access to e-mail.

He also was involved in a rescue attempt of an airship called the Macon. He had a piece of the wreckage and donated it to the Ohio Historical Society.
Update Sept. 6th, 2001 Dear Sandy
I am living in an assisted living facility in Wapakoneta, Ohio and am very
happy to be here. I was in the Navy from 1928-1934 and served aboard the
USS Salt Lake City.
