ball-red-02 Deceased Henry W. White, MCPO, Retired, sent in the following information on J. D. Byars. He thought it might be of interest to many, especially those that served with J. D. Byars on the SLC, 1939-1941.

The Book, "MOODS OF A SAILOR", published by The Naylor Company, San Antonio, Texas, First Edition July, 1943, Second Printing November 1944.

This is probably the first book of poems to come out of the war says H. W. White. J. D., born in Texas, was a twenty-three year old Signalman 1/c at the time it was written.
