Letter written to Sandy Eskew on Aug. 25th, 2001 by William E. Edwards

Dear Sandy,

In Oct. of 1934, I joined the USNRAB Squantum? in Boston, MASS., and after graduating from Parachute Material School in Lakehurst, NJ in Feb. of 1937 and after pulling the Hindenburg [See Link Below] in, I became a Station Keeper until I joined the USN in April of 1938.

I went to NTS in Newport, RI, then to NTS in Norfolk, VA. for Electric & Radio Schools.

I reported to the SLC and was assigned to the 5th Div. before getting into the "C" Division under Deceased Chief Norman Hildebrand and John Kelly, GM2c ...then to Aviation Division under S. Simeone, RM1c and Ron T. Morgan, EM2c.

I was also on the Swim Team and the Race boat Crew under Lt. Leo Unknown.

William E. Edwards
