USS SLC...Enlisted Navy...Jesse O. Goben, FC1c

May 3rd, 2000
Dear Sandy,

I am sending you the information asked for in the last newsletter about my time on the USS Salt Lake City. At the request of my family, I have written a book titled "Grandpa Jesse's World War II Memories". About three years ago I sent my copy to the President of the SLC Assoc. and told him I wrote it as I remembered it. If it wasn't OK for the memoirs, to send it back. I didn't receive it back, so assumed it was ok.

I attended the reunion in Corpus Christi, TX. last year and spent quite a bit of time looking over table after table of memoirs and never found it there. I do not have another copy so if you'd like it, you may be able to track it down.

I reported on board the USS Salt Lake City on Feb. 05, 1943 & departed on Oct. 29, 1945. I was in the 9th Division and my rate was Fire Controlman 1c.

Thank you
Jesse Goben
