USS SLC...Enlisted Navy...Victor Milton Herbert, RM1c

US FLAG Victor M. Herbert passed away in 1966 and is buried at Point Loma Naval Cemetary in San Diego, CA.

My name is Suzy Herbert. I'm pretty sure the picture above is my dad, V. M. Herbert, who served in the US Navy on the USS Salt Lake City from 1933 through 1938. I've been trying to look up some geneology on my family who have mostly died, and stumbled onto your site. This picture looks a lot like a picture my mom used to have of my dad.

He joined the Navy in Boston, MA on Feb. 17, 1927 and was stationed in Long Beach, CA in 1934 and in Bremerton, WA in 1936. I know that he and my mother met in Bremerton but after that, he was stationed back at Long Beach. I will check with my sister to see about the pictures of my dad that I remember my mom having. My mom died in 1982 so my well of information is very limited.

I would love to find out any information at all about my dad. I was almost 4 when he died and my mom didn't tell me much about his life before they were together. I don't have many living relatives and so would love to hear anything about him.

Thank you,
Suzy Herbert, Dau.
