USS SLC...Enlisted Navy...George William Higgins, F3c

US FLAG George passed away on July 28th, 2006 at the age of 98
Nov. 30th, 2003

My grandfather, George W. Higgins, was on the USS SLC in 1932. My records show he boarded her on Feb. 16th, 1932. His time on this ship was short-lived because he was a submariner and had two war patrols aboard the USS GROUPER and the USS PIKE.

His records show that he entered the Navy on March 16, 1931 at the US Navy Recruiting Station in Providence, RI.

He served 22 years and 8 months in the US Navy, retiring in 1953. I am proud to say he just turned 96 years old.

Thank you so much,

Grand daughter, Paula J. Higgins
