USS SLC...Enlisted Navy...Otho W. Jackson, TC1c Otho Jackson passed away in Sept. of 2001 Otho W. Jackson enlisted in the Navy on Oct. 4th, 1939 in St. Louis, MO. He boarded the SLC on Jan. 20th, 1940. On Jun. 11th, 1940 he was promoted to S1c On Sept. 1st, 1941 he was promoted to GM3c On Mar. 1st, 1943 he was promoted to GM2c On Dec. 1st, 1943 he was promoted to TC1c [Turret Capt. 1st Class] He was transferred to Gunnery School at the receiving station in Washington.
