My father was living on the family farm in Bedford, Massachusetts when he was privileged to enlist in the Marines in New York, NY. on Dec. 20th, 1933. There were 8 other children. After his regular hitch, he received his "Honorably Discharged" by reason of expiration of term of enlistment on Dec. 6th, 1937 in San Francisco, CA. He was delivered at MB, PSNY, Bremerton, WA. on Dec. 19th and enlisted in VMCR, Class VI on Dec. 29th, 1937. His character listed as "Excellent". He served in the Marine reserves until March 20, 1941 at the rank of Corporal.

After 8 years service in the Marines, he was drafted into the Army on March 7, 1942. He served with the 702nd Petroleum Distribution Unit for 33 months in Africa and Italy (ETO) with the rank of First Sergeant. He was discharged from the Army reserves on November 10, 1948 with the rank of M/Sgt. He retired from the Watertown Arsenal, Watertown, Massechusetts in December 1965 as a Master Crane Operator. He is survived by his Daughter Anna and son Edward, and two grandchildren, David and Kristina.
