USS SLC...Enlisted Navy...Rex S. McNees, AMM2c

Oct. 7th, 2001

Dear Sandy,

I stumbled upon the USS Lake City web site today while looking for pictures for my uncle's [Rex S. McNees] photo album that I'm helping him with.

I'm going to send him some of the pictures I've printed off and tell him to pack a lunch and head for the Lopez Island Library to commence the adventure of browsing this terrific web sites!! He will be in pure heaven, I'm sure.

I'm not sure of all Rex's credentials but I do know he grew up in Parma, Idaho, and enlisted in the Navy November 4, 1940. He has told us the SLC was out at sea when Pearl Harbor was bombed. He was honorably discharged in November, 1946.

Congratulations to you and the incredible people who have put this marvelous tribute to the USS Salt Lake City together.

Sincerely,
Sharon Hervey DeWitt, Niece
Kitty Slagle, Dau.
