USS SLC...Enlisted Navy...Wayne B. "Red" Smith, S1c Wayne "Red" Smith passed away on January 25, 1974 My father, Wayne Beverly Smith, served on board the Salt Lake City. I appreciate all the hard work you do keeping up with the information. I heard my dad speak fondly of his buddies. Thanks, Nancy Herndon SLC Deck Log Dec. 1942 Wayne B. Smith AS, USNR Enlisted 12/16/41 @ Dallas, TX. Reported aboard the SLC 3/18/42 from NAS Terminal Island, CA. Promoted to S2c 4/16/42 Transferred to Navy 603 for treatment. Returned aboard from Mobil Hospital for duty 1/1/43 Promoted to S1c and transferred to receiving station @ Pearl Harbor TH for further transfer to West Coast for duty on New Construction.
