Frank Stawitzki passed away on March 11, 1977
Dec. 7th, 2001 Hi Sandy,
My father's uncle (who was also my godfather) served on the SLC in 1930.
His name is Frank Stawitzki. I'm not sure how long before/after that year
he served on the SLC but I have a beautiful certificate of his that
documents his first crossing of the equator (Feb, 1930) in the Atlantic
on the way to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At that time he was a S1c.
Unfortunately, he is no longer around to tell me the tales of his Navy career. He passed away on March 11, 1977. If any of his shipmates knew him, I would enjoy hearing from them. Please drop me a note. I was quite pleased to find your website, Sandy. I have infrequently looked for SLC information for a few years now and had always came up with nothing until now.
