Letter received on Aug. 30th, 2001

Dear Sandy

Upon leaving boot camp in Diego in April of 1935, I boarded the "Old Girl" in Vallejo while she was undergoing overhaul and dry-docking. I stayed on board until Oct. of 1938. I was transferred to the USS Northampton as a RM2c to Flag of the Squadron Commander and discharged in Dec. of 1938.

I re-enlisted in March of 1939 and stayed in until June 30th, 1960. I retired as a LCdr. having had command of a Naval Facility in Nantucket, MA. Then I went to Chiropractic College in KC, MO. and practiced until 1983 when I retired from active practice.

A Shipmate,
Henry E. Stephenson
