I was researching our last name Taglieri, and was surprised to find my father's picture.

We are both very excited and are happy to tell you that we have many more wonderful pictures to share with you and the rest of the USS Salt Lake City family. We will be getting this information to you as soon as possible.

My father received radiation treatments this summer for lung cancer and has been feeling a bit under the weather. As soon as his health permits, we will be sending you as much information as possible. Some of his pictures includes: group photos, boxing matches on the ship and young sailors goofing off.

Toni Taglieri

Even from his hospital bed, Taglieri helps the children.

Ask anyone in New Bern who most embodies the spirit of the Cystic Fibrosis Telethon and the answer might be Willie Taglieri.

For 22 years he has donated his time & his talent to paint pictures to be auctioned to raise money for the cause.

Since 1981, Taglieri has painted during the telecast. He begins painting at noon, finishes at midnight and the painting is awarded by drawing the name of the winner on the air.
