USS SLC...Enlisted Navy...Richard G. "Gray" Tatum, S1c
US FLAG Richard passed away on May 15th, 2005. Information sent in by his son, Richard, Jr.

Richard served on the USS Salt Lake City from October 10, 1943 thru February 15, 1946. While in the service he mentioned he was called 'Gray' or "Dick' by most of those who knew him.

He was Gun Captain on Number 3 Turret for most of his service. He participated and received battle stars for the Gilbert Islands, Marshall Islands, two from the Philippines, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa.

Keep up the good work, I'm sure your commitment is greatly appreciated by those who served on this ship as well as their families!
