US FLAG William E. Taylor passed away in 1968

August 22nd, 2008

Dear Sandy,

I recently found your wonderful website.

My Dad, William Eugene Taylor, was on the USS Salt Lake City in the Aleutians when the ship was attacked in, I believe 1943.

He was born in Pomeroy, Iowa and died unexpectedly in 1968 from Hodgkin's disease, so I only have some sketchy information from my Mother about his early life.

I know he was a medic when on the ship. I know he was a Lieutenant JG at some point, possibly after he left the ship. I know he was transferred at sea for re-assignment somewhere. I know he was on board when the ship was attacked in the Aleutians

My Dad went to medical school at the University of Minnesota (Through the GI bill or a Navy arrangement of some kind) where he became an MD and practiced until his death.

I am attaching a picture of him before or during his Navy service and hope someone may remember him or have known him.

Best Regards,

Bill Taylor
