May 12, 1984 - Norfork, VA.

On the Occasion of Commissioning U.S.S Salt Lake City (SSN 716), this Plaque is presented to the Ship's Company by the Officers and Men who served in U.S.S. Salt Lake City (CA-25).

The History of CA25 marks her as a Pacesetter; Among the very best of her time, from her top performances in traning exercises of the 1930's, to her Legendary WWII surface action victories at Cape Esperance and Komandorski, she set new standards of excellence for others to follow.

The Free World sorely needs good men in sturdy ships to protect that freedom. We pray that the Fighting Spirit of U.S.S. Salt Lake City (CA25) might be Re-born in you and in those who follow.
