USS SLC...Enlisted Navy...Charles G. Venturella, S1c

Sept. 22nd, 2000

Dear Sandy,

My father, Charles G. Venturella, USN, S1c, served aboard the SLC in 1943. His journey on the SLC was from San Francisco to Hawaii.

I grew up hearing tales of being on the Salt Lake City and just found your info on the internet. I am looking forward to what the SLC association finds/reads. A great resource!

He arrived in Hawaii I think in October or Nov. He does consider himself a part of the Salt Lake City's history; passing under the golden gate bridge, getting seasick, serving on a gun crew, perferating an ear drum. I've heard many stories of it thru the years!

I have several photos of my dad I could send...

He retired from the BF Goodrich plant in Miami, OK. (where I used to work as well).

Thank you for a great service and web site.

Son,
Tony D. Venturella Dana Point, CA

If you wish to contact Charles Venturella, please write to me for his mailing address or write to his son Tony. Thank you, Sandy Eskew
