Daniel Roy "D.R." Waatti served in the military on July 5, 1943, when he was 18 years old.

Water Tender, Second Class made the steam which spun the turbines which turned the propellers, which made the ship go through the water.

Watch supervisor, responsible for ensuring the boiler, equipment needed to operate the boiler worked properly

Served on the USS SLC CA25 from 5 July 1943 to 9 April 1946
