Died Oct. 28, 1977 in Piedmont, Alabama

Served Aboard from Jun. 11, 1944 till Dec. 20, 1944

Oct. 9, 1944 Participated in day and night bombardments of Marcus Island under heavy fire of enemy shore batteries.
Oct. 1944 Operated with the Fast Carrier Task force as a unit of the Third fleet in the battle for the Philippines
Nov. 11, 1944 Participated in the night bombardment of Iwo Jima, Volcano Islands under fire of enemy shore batteries
Dec.8, 1944 Participated in a daylight coordinated air and surface bombardment against the island of Iwo Jima.
September/3/1944 Participated in the bombardment of Wake Island under fire of enemy shore batteries
