Retired Vice Adm. Bertram J. Rodgers, 89, a native of the Knoxville
section of Pittsburgh, died Nov. 30 in Coronado, CA.

Rodgers served as a wartime commanding officer on the USS Salt Lake City from Jan. 1943 to Sept. 1943. While on the ship, Adm. Rodgers had the rank of Captain and lead several naval bombardments.
