Update...Mar. 4th, 2001
Hello,

My name is T. J. Jones, I am the grandson of Aaron Buttner. He joined the Navy when he was 17 at the Naval recruiting center in Chattanooga, TN. After boot camp, he was assigned to the USS SLC. While on board I think that he served as a gunners mate, on the 8" guns. I can't recall all the battles that he was involved in and due to his health condition, we try not to talk about the war. I am sorry that I could not be of much help.
