Deceased Pennington, Ray, S2c received injuries multiple, both lip and upper bum and loss of a toothas a result of a fall. He had been sleeping on a mess table and was observed by Sutton, MM1c, engineering Security Patrol as he rolled over, fell and hit on his face on the deck. He was examined, treaded and turned into sick bay by the Pharmist Mate on watch. Misconduct not apparent.

Brow, Tommie B., S2c received a contusion on the head when on a routine trip as a member of a motor launch crew. He fell overboard as his boat was making a landing and struck his head on the boat gunwale. Negligence not apparent. Man treated in sick bay and ammited to sick list.

Laughlin, L. W., F2c while lighting off No. 8 boiler, received multiple burns to the arms, face and chest when a flareback occurred. Man treated in sick bay and admitted to sick list. Negligence not apparent as cause of injury.

ball-red-02 Deceased Hankins, L. D., CM1c, while endeavering to remove a misfired and jammed cartridge from No. 11 20mm gun, during practice firing, received a traumatic amputation of the ends of the first and second fingers, right hand, when the fingers were smashed by the mechanism of the fun when it uncocked itself. Injury was during work, negligence not apparent. man taken to sick bay for treatment and admitted to sick list.

Transferred Hurt, William M., EM3c to USS Cuyana, with bag, hammock, records and accounts, for treatment. Diagnosis: Fracture, Simple Skull

Davis, I. K., Cpl. USMC receied two lacerations of the scalp. Injury received when enroute from living canpartment to battle station. He struck his head on the hatch, within command, negligence not apparent. Treated in sick bay and returned to duty.

May 31st, 1943

Clemons, C., S1c received a sprained left ankle while on watch on 5" Gun #8; Negligence not apparent. Treated at sick bay and turned into his bunk for the night.
