Herbert "Pete" Monslow passed away on Dec. 14th, 2014 Dec. 18th, 2014 It is sad to inform you that we laid our grandfather to rest on December 17, 2014. He was just shy of his 97th birthday when he had passed on to his other life on Sunday, Dec. 14th, 2014. His entire family was very proud of his achievements in life and especially for the service to our military to keep us all free and safe at home. Being that he was a Pearl Harbor survivor made his service that much more unique and important. The time spent on the USS Salt Lake City thereafter was just as influential to the war cause as seen in the historical significance that this great vessel contributed in sinking enemy ships, shooting down enemy aircraft, and aiding on countless ground and sea missions during the bulk of the war in the Pacific. True American heroes were these young men. Herbert "Pete" Monslow 12/20/17- 12/14/14 R.I.P. Thank you for your time and the website. -Justin Heider #26 in 10th Division, 1943 SLC Deck Logs Feb. 1942 Feb. 1943 May 1943 Signed Autograph Book of J.D. Kelley, FC2c |
