John M. Roberts was born Aug. 1, 1919 in Antelope, TX. He was 19 years old and from Annarose, TX. when he enlisted in the US Navy on Aug. 13, 1938. He was honorably discharged on May 22, 1942 and re-enlisted on May 23, 1942. He served on the SLC from 1939 - 1943.

He was AS in Naval Training 1938 before he boarded the SLC. Then he became S2c, S1c,Cox, BM2c, and BM1c. He says he has 9 campaign ribbons and 19 battle stars.

After the SLC he served on the USS WHITE PLAINS CVE-66.

John is interested in hearing from or about anyone who remembers him. He mentions remembering Percy G. Higgins, Jr., AMM1c.

In 1939 John was in 2nd Division then he went to "R" division, then 3rd Division, COX 1940, then 1st Division, 1st class Petty Officer.
