June 1st - 5th, 1943 - NO REMARKS
June 6th, 1943 Sears, Benjamin F., EM3c, while operating a power drill to drill hole for 40mm mount #5, sustained lacerations of the right thumb. He was treated in sick bay and turned to duty. No apparent negligence. June 7th, 1943- NO REMARKS June 8th, 1943 Boardwell, J. I., S2c received laceration left eyebrow while unloading a 40mm gun during drill practice having bumped his head on the automatic loader. No apparent negligence. Treated in sick bay and returned to duty. Heard, Oren K., S2c received a fracture great toe, left foot, and a fracture first toe, left foot, while chipping paint in the laundry. A hatch fell on his foot. Negligence not apparent. Treated in Sick bay and admitted to light duty list. June 9th-15th, 1943- NO REMARKS June 16th, 1943 Sick bay reported that Ryffel, George, Capt. was stricken with appendicitis and underwent an appendectomy preformed by Lt. R. Whitehead. Patient recovering. June 17th, 1943 - NO REMARKS June 18th, 1943 Transferred ![]() Transferred Hanks, William A., EM3c to USS PELOS to Mine Warfare School, Yorktown, VA. for temporary duty for instruction with bag, hammock, records and accounts. Received Franklin, Leo, S1c from Dutch Harbor, Alaska, via USS PELOS, with bag, hammock, records and accounts for duty. June 19th - 22nd, 1943 - NO REMARKS June 23rd, 1943 Yunker, S. N., F1c was transferred to the submarine base, New London, Conn. for instruction in submarine training school. Cox, A. C., GM2c was transferred to Navy Yard, Washington, DC for instruction in Gunner's Mate School. Tritsch, E. A., MM1c was transferred to receiving ship, San Fransisco, CA. for instruction in Motor Machinist School. June 24th, 1943 ![]() D. A. Hawkins: Due to accident to Rowe, positive steps are being taken to prevent occurence of same on #1 and #2 40mm mounts. Shield clearance outboard will be increased during next Navy Yard availability for permanent correction. June 26th, 2008 Blakeslee, E. R., Pfc USMC was injured while handling ammunition during drill. Hatch fell on his foot causing contusioin of right toe. Man admitted to sick bay. June 27th - 30th, 1943 - NO REMARKS |
