April 1st, 1943 [04 to 12] Routine Inspections by W. A. Golden, Ens. USN [12 to 16] 1230 - The following officer and men left the ship for temporary shore patrol duty: Lt. J. F. Maher A. R. Miller, CMM V. J. Monteleone, SM3c L. R. Ricker, GM2c R. A. Connor, FC2c J. E. Jennison, Cox E. M. Kronberger, Cox D. M. Winter, Cox T. F. Batchelor, GM3c O. L. Michaelson, GM3c J. Henderson, Jr., RT2c 1410 - Pursuant to Com Des Pac Ltr. No. 472 of March 7, 1943 received C. E. Young, CMM on board with bag, records and accounts from USS COGLAN FFt to Rec. Station, San Francisco, CA. 1415 - Received the follow men on board with bags & hammocks from USS CALDWELL FFT to Rec. Station San Francisco, CA. for leave: W. W. Harrison, CBM R. A. Bennett, RM2c J. C. Beebe, MM1c J. A. Fleener S1c J. F. Foeppel, SM1c F. R. Fussell, CWT E. J. Kavany, MM2c J. E. Morris, MM1c W. W. Peterson, CMM H. M. Peyton, FC1c C. E. Sickman, CMM P. A. Swanson, S1c D. L. Thornburg, GM1c F. S. Knight, Lt. USN [16 to 20] Lt. Maher returned aboard having completed duties as shore patrol officer. The remaining men listed in [12 to 16] returned aboard having completed temporary shore patrol duty April 2nd - 5th, 1943 No Remarks April 6th, 1943 Turner, A. A., Matt2c was made a PAL by order of the Esecutive Officer for failing to report to his General Quarters Station. April 7th-30th, 1943 From what I can tell reading the Deck Logs for this month, consist of men celebrating surviving the Battle of the Komandorski's Islands. Lots of "leaves" and "AWOL". I've decided not to post all that information.
