Cavanaugh, Edward J., Chief Radio Electrician was detached from this vessel and ordered to duty at Radio Material School, Naval Reserve Laboratory, Washington, DC.

In accordance with Commander in Chief, US Pacific Fleet, the Commanding Officer prested the following officers with the Silver Star Medal and Temporary Citations in the name of the President of the United States.

In Accordance with a dispatch from the Chief of Naval Personel, ball-red-02 Deceased Rodgers, Bertram J., Captain, had detached from duty as Commanding Officer of this ship and left for future assignment.
ball-red-02 Deceased Busbey, L. W., Captain assumed command in accordance with BuPers.

Mr. John Bishop, news correspondent for Saturday Evening Post reported on board for passage. Left the ship on Sept. 22nd, 1943

ball-red-02 Deceased Ancel, J. B., S1c received lacerations of the forehead and nose when a washed against the gun shield while standing watch on 40mm mount. Treated in sick bay and admitted to sick list. Negligence was not apparent.

Sutton, J. H., BM2c was knocked down by seas while at his gun station in after 5" battery. suffered lacerations of left leg, sprained left ankle. Wounds treated and admitted to sick list.
