USS SLC...Enlisted Navy...Howard H. Bohlin, MM2c

US FLAG Howard H. Bohlin passed away on Oct. 6th, 1990
Hi Sandy!

I am loving your website, and am thrilled that I will be able to pass on these stories to my daughters. I always loved talking to my grandpa, Howard Harold Bohlin, about his "Navy days". He told me more than he told anyone else in our family...he was usually very reticent about sharing details of what he experienced during his time on the ship.

He would never take my grandma to Hawaii. She always wanted to go, and he said he would never go back there. When I had to write a report on Pearl Harbor for a school project, he told me why. He said that his ship had been among the first to go back into the Harbor after the attack...and he could not describe in words the horror of the things he saw. He said it would be too difficult to ever go back there.

I was wondering if there are any shipmates out there who remember my grandpa and could share anymore stories/pictures they may have of him. He was the best man I've ever known.

Thank you for all you're doing!
Sincerely,
Kimberly Mohne Hill (granddaughter of Howard Harold Bohlin)
