I was 18 years old when I went aboard the SLC, about July of 1944 off Mare Island, CA. I was drafted and sworn in the Navy on Oct. 21, 1943. On Nov. 2nd, 1943 I arrived at Boot Camp in Faragat, ID. and left on Jan. 18, 1944.

I went to Chicago to radio operator school on Jun. 24th, 1944 at the University of Chicago.

I left the ship in CA. about the last of March, 1946. I was discharged on April 9, 1946 in St. Louis, MO.
