USS SLC...Enlisted Navy...Robert C. Kohlman, RM1c

US FLAG Robert C."Bob" Kohlman passed away on Feb. 25th, 2019 in Fond Du Lac, WI. where he grew up.
Information from grandson Nick Goebel.
Oct. 26th, 2000

I enlisted in the Navy on Oct. 22, 1942. After Boot Camp at Great Lakes, I attended Radio Operators School at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. In Apr. of 1943 I went on board the USS Salt Lake City and joined the radio gang. This was my home until the war ended. I was discharged on Jan. 10, 1946.

Thanks to ball-red-02 Deceased Bob Burroughs, I found out about the Ship's Association and the reunions. Since that time my wife and I have attended five of them and they were all great!

If anything positive came from this experience, its been all the lasting friendships. Thanks to Sandy, I'm now enjoying the USS SLC website. What a wonderful story she has created!

Regards to all my Shipmates,
Robert "Bob" Kohlman
