USS SLC...USN Donald C. Moberg, BM1c

US FLAG Donald C. Moberg passed away on Jan. 24th, 2018. Information from close friend, Jeff Etzel
Feb. 1st, 2018

It is my sad duty to report that my dear friend and SLC veteran BM1c Donald C. Moberg passed away on, January 24, 2018. Don loved serving his country, and he loved the USS Salt Lake City, and was very proud of the many things that he and his shipmates accomplished serving the United States aboard the “Swayback Maru”.

Many years ago I printed off several webpage’s from the USSSLC25 website for Don, since he didn’t have a computer, and he was thrilled to read them, and thanked me many times for them. Don would have been 95 this year. He was very active right up until the last week of his life, walking several miles daily and he was even still driving.

It was an honor and privilege to know Don, and call him a close friend. I loved listening to the many stories he told about his time aboard ship. He will be greatly missed.

Thank you,

Jeff Etzel

Hi Sandy,
Thank you! And thank you for all of your work on the SLC website. You are a blessing to many veterans and their families. Before I met Don, his wife had passed away and his son had died in a car accident.

Thanks again, Jeff
