Letter written by step son, Daniel Albers to a Captain Carroll on March 5, 1983

Dear Captain Carroll, ball-red-02 Deceased Charles H. "Chuck" Carroll, QM1c

My stepfather "Cap", passed away on Thur. Feb. 24th, 1983. He died very peacefully in a sound sleep. Our family was there and he knew this becasue he had been awake early that morning. He died from pneumonia that he contracted while in the hospital with prostate cancer that had spread throughout his body. He could no longer fight the infection, but he was a fighter until the end which gives us strength.

My mother sends her regards.

Sincerely,
Daniel Albers
