I see you are the website person to contact for the Salt Lake City. I thought you would like to know that Richard Safreed, who served on the Salt Lake City, passed away in 2005 or 2006. His son, who unfortunately also passed away last year, had mentioned his dad was on the Salt Lake City during the war. Just thought you would like to know. I am eager to find someone who may have known Mr. Safreed as his son was a friend of mine and told me a little about his dads service including that he sustained a head wound during one engagement.
