US FLAG Orris J. Allen passed away in Jan. of 1994. Information from step daughter, Patsy Rogen
Dec. 5th, 2009

Dear Sandy,

What a wonderful job you have done with this web site. I put my step father's name in a Google search recently and this site came up. His name was Orris J. Allen. He shows up on your records as having come aboard the Salt Lake City on March 6, 1943.

What a surprise to see his picture come up. He is listed as a carpenter. He actually ended up being a wood and metal pattern maker. He was a fine craftsman with wood. In his later years he painted some pictures and did some sculpting.

He was an outdoorsman, an avid elk hunter and a true man of the west. Sadly he passed away in January 1994. He retired from the Navy as a Lieutenant JG. He was very proud of his service in the Navy but spoke very little about his experiences. He did not choose to relive the combat.

Thank you for what you have done with this web site and compiling this history.
