In NRS Portland, Oregon on Aug. 25, 1941 and on the same day left for NTC San Diego, CA.
and was there until March 18th, 1942 where he boarded the USS SLC CA25. He served on the SLC until Aug. 19, 1945 and left with a rate of FC1c and went to the Rec. Sta. NOB Navy No. 230 until Sept. 7, 1945. Then he went to Rec. Sta. Navy Station in Seattle, WA. until his discharge on Sept. 18th, 1945.

Robert Roth, 86, of Arlington, WA., passed away December 16th, 2003. He was born Feb. 12, 1917 in Littleheart, ND. and raised in Huff, ND. He was confirmed as a Lutheran in 1933 in Parken, ND.
He worked throughout the area farming until he and two friends went to Portland, OR. to find work. He worked for Bonneville Power until enlisting in the Navy on Aug. 25, 1941. He served three and one-half years aboard the USS Salt Lake City heavy cruiser and was discharged on Sept. 18, 1945.
He married Mary Montoya on May 14, 1943 and settled in Seattle, WA. after his discharge from the service. He worked as a Furnace specialist for fifteen years then started his own plumbing business and continued working until he semi-retired in 1993.
Bob was an active member of the Mountlake Terrace Lions Club and Past Commander of the Blackburn VFW Post 3348 of North Seattle. In 1950 he completed a lovely home with 2 years hard work.
He married Marietta Colbern-Leatherman on May 28th, 1965 and lived north of Bryant since that time.
He is survived by his wife and three daughters, three step-sons and many grandchildren.
