US FLAG George passed away on Jun. 25th, 1984. Information from daughter, Karen Riley

July 6th, 2009

Hi Sandy,
I am the oldest daughter of Cox,USN, WWII Veteran George C. Woods #4 in picture shown on GroupID#109. I was so excited to see this online. I have the picture but sure would like to find out if any of his shipmates that are living remember him!

He passed away at the young age of 59, June 25, 1984. 25 years ago! Time goes by so fast. He is survived by his 5 children and 8 grandchildren. He told us very little about his life on the ship.

I think it was hard for him. He did say seeing friends get hurt and die next to him was hard to handle.

He had the job of escorting officers from ship to shore etc. Probably other duties. I wish I knew more.

I will read more on this site.

Thank you for doing all this.

God is so good!
May He bless you abundantly.
Karen Riley
