US FLAG James E. Drawhorn passed away on August 15th, 1976 in Jasper, AL. at the age of 58 years. He was buried August 17, 1976 in Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, AL. He was a retired Steel Worker with US Steel.

My name is Jason Delaney Drawhorn (b. 03 April 1980), and I am the grandson of James Everett Drawhorn (gunner). I have some pictures that I could send you. I would like very much to find some of the guys in his photos.

I never knew my grandfather, he died before I was born; furthermore, my own father passed away in 1996 (his name Carson LaVelle Drawhorn, named after Carson LaVelle Roper who died in the war). So, I would love to know more about some of these guys:

James was born on January 26th, 1918 in Oneonta, AL. He entered the service on December 18th, 1941, USNRS Birmingham, Alabama
His date of Separation was on October 13th, 1945 he received his Honorably Discharged on October 15th, 1945 from the U.S. Naval Personnel Separation Center in Memphis, TN.
Ratings he held: AS S2c S1c GM3c GM2c
Net Service: 3 years 9 months 25 days
He also served on the NTS, San Diego, California and the USS Salt Lake City
Remarks: Gunner's Mate Second Class
