Frank Sulewski, CGM(AA), U.S. NAVY for service as set forth in the following Citation is awarded a Letter of Commendation.

"For meritorious conduct as gunnery repairman, gunnery repair party, of a heavy cruiser, during operations of U. S. naval forces against enemy surface units off ________. Under most difficult conditions, with enemy fire falling close, and with each hit or near miss magnified in sound to those below decks, upon the order from control, "make arrangements and shift ammunition from turret II to turret III," he vigorously and aggressively set about collecting men from mounts, relay parties, repair parties, and passengers, put the enormous task into operation, moving projectiles by hand, and moved powder aft on the second deck in such orderly and efficient manner that no one was hurt, no powder or projectiles were dropped, even though the decks were wet and slippery from water and oil. His conduct was at all times in keeping with the highest traditions of the naval service."
