US FLAG Bertram J. Edgar passed away on Sept. 30th, 2003 at the age of 84.
Information from Gene Butler, son-in-law.

March, 2003

Received the following message from daughter Rosemary Butler on Dec. 13, 2002

I was very happy to see the website on the SLC. My father, Bertram J. Edgar was on the ship. He and I get in some vivid discussion about the ship and his life on it. He is 83 years old now and in very good health. I would like to get some information about people and add his name to the roster. I know he will be thrilled to hear from anyone. He does not have a computer, but I would be more than happy to get the information and tell him about it. I would also like for him to go to the reunion. He is going to be so thrilled and excited to hear that we have found some of his old shipmate.

Some of the shipmates he remembers are:
Frank Bell ball-red-02
Donald C. Nohrden ball-red-02
Robert D. "Bob" Jackson, MM2c ball-red-02
