James Forrester, born on Jan. 30, 1927 in Tulsa, OK. Enlisted in the US Navy on Jul. 23, 1943 in Tulsa, OK. at the age of sixteen (16) years and six (6) months. Reported to San Diego, CA. for seven (7) weeks basic training on Jul. 25, 1943.

On Oct. 9, 1943, at San Francisco, CA., was assigned on the USS SLC to go to Hawaii for assignment. While en-route to Hawaii was assigned to the USS SLC. Because I had worked at an auto electric after school hours, I was assigned to the electrician division as a fireman. I was Electrician Mate 3rd Class twice.

I left the USS SLC on April 18, 1946 and was discharged from the Navy in Norman, OK. on April 20, 1946.

I married Dorothea Jean Thompson on May 9, 1947 and we have two sons, James Nelson Forrester, Jr. and Mark Lynn Forrester.

I retired from the automotive parts business in Dec. 1993.
